Chapter 12:

“Wow…I’m honestly really happy for you guys and I’m especially happy that you didn’t go to London, Taylor,” Linda informed the happy couple with a gentle smile.

“Yeah, well I just couldn’t bring myself to leave my lady,” Tay replied before lifting Candice’s hand to his lips, pecking it softly.

“I can’t see any other man in my life, but him,” Candice responded happily, smiling as Taylor kissed her hand. Why was she so lucky? To have a man that loved her for her, no matter how many mistakes she had made, or how damaged she was. He loved her for her.

“Candice, you love Taylor, right?” Linda asked her gently, and Candice found herself becoming nervous. Her heart started beating faster against her chest.

This was a touchy topic that she knew that she needed to face.

Candice slowly nodded and turned to face Taylor. “He means everything to me,” she said with a soft sigh. “I know I’m not able to say the words right now, but he knows how much I do and I know that soon I’ll be able to say the words.”

“Wow...Candice,” Linda said with surprise. “That’s the first time I’ve heard you talk that way to Taylor before. Taylor, do you realize what she just said? She hasn’t admitted it, but she almost has and I’m sure within a few months, she’ll be able to say those three words with confidence and love.”

“I really hope so,” Taylor commented, holding onto Candice’s hand more tightly. “You know how much I love you baby, and all I want is for you to say the words. I don’t want to force you or anything, but just know that I’ll be waiting on you. You can take your time, because I know how much it’s gonna take for you to say the words. But I’m here and I’m waiting patiently on you,” he concluded before moving closer to Candice and pressing his lips onto hers momentarily, giving her a sweet kiss before pulling away.

She loved him. She loved him so much, and the fact that she was now having a baby with him was making her realize just how grateful she was to have him in her life. He was her rock, her pillar, and her soul mate.

She loved him.

“So, when are you both going to visit your parents, Tay?”

“In about two weeks,” Taylor responded.

“And Candice, you’re excited to meet his family?” Linda questioned her curiously.

“Very,” Candice nodded enthusiastically. “I hear Tay’s mom is a big fan of the Love and Hip Hop franchise, so I guess we already have one thing in common.”

“That’s nice, and how do you feel now that you’re being introduced to his family?”

“I’m happy and excited. I’m glad that I can meet his family and see whether they’ll like me or not. In some ways, I feel a bit sad that I can’t introduce him to my family because my mom’s dead and my dad…well, I have no clue whether he’s dead or alive,” Candice stated quietly. She never knew who her father was, and in some ways, she wished that she had.
